NR consults on Oxford plans

Network Rail announced on November 26 the start of public consultation on the first phase of a two-stage programme to increase capacity at Oxford station. A planning application is due to be submitted in spring 2010.rnThe principal feature is a new bay platform on part of the long-stay car park on the southeast side of the railway. This will enable trains from London to turn back clear of the two intensively-used through platforms. With electrification now approved, the frequency of services to London is expected to increase and all electric trains will necessarily have to turn back here.
