Bombardier out of Piccadilly bidding

Tube Lines confirmed on December 7 that Bombardier Transportation had been eliminated from tendering for the new Piccadilly Line fleet, as a result of its bid 'not being compliant with the requirements of the tender documents'. Expressions of interest had been invited in January 2007 and bids were received from Alstom, Bombardier and CARrnUnder the PPP, the upgrade of London Underground's Piccadilly Line including a new train fleet is scheduled to be completed by 2014. The existing fleet, which entered service in 1975-78 and was refurbished in 1995-2000, will be replaced by 93 six-car trains.
