Hitachi withdraws from EMU bidding

Hitachi Europe Rail Group announced on April 22 that it had withdrawn from the. bidding to supply the new Thameslink EMUs. This leaves Alstom, Bombardier and Siemens in the competition, where bids are now due to be submitted to DfT on June 25.rnAnnouncing the withdrawal, Hitachi said that 'by doing so, the company is able to continue its focus on current and futurerncommitments'. Hitachi Europe Rail Group Managing Director Alistair Dormer emphasised that the company was still 'firmly dedicated to the UK rail industry' and was currently working towards delivering the Class 395 EMUs into service on HS1 'later this year'.
