New entrant Parkeon has obtained Rail Settlement Plan approval for its Astreo ticket vending machine following trials at c2c's London Fenchurch Street terminus.rnA long-standing supplier to European transport operators, Parkeon of France bought Wayfarer of Poole in October 2007 with the aim of gaining entry to the UK, where it now has 80% of the market for bus ticket machines.rnSales Director Paul Moirano believes TOCs are keen to see a third supplier enter the market for RSP-approved TVMs. On March 26 TOC representatives attended an industry day in London where Parkeon displayed two machines it has supplied to continental operators.rnParkeon has installed around 500 TVMs in the UK on behalf of Scheidt ft Bachmann. The German supplier has since developed in-house capabilities, but the contract provided Parkeon with experience of the complexities of working in the UK railway environment.
