Opening a Westminster Hall debate on the Intercity Express Programme on September 15, Labour MP for Sedgefield Phil Wilson revealed that in addition to the Transport Secretary meeting the President of Hitachi and the Japanese ambassador, Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan had lobbied his UK counterpart David Cameron on the threatened project (RB1374 p1).
