Close shave at St Pancras

A most unusual overhead line failure on September 23 2009 posed a serious threat of injury to passengers alighting from a Eurostar service which had just arrived at 18.33 from Paris at St Pancras International, RA1B confirms in its report on the accident. Fortunately, they all steered clear of the 25 kV contact wire lying in coils on Platform 9 as it was twice re-energised in error by an electrical controller in Ashford.
