Shortlisted bidders for the new Piccadilly Line fleet, Alstom and CAF, are awaiting the outcome of this autumn's comprehensive spending review to see if the project will go ahead now that Tube Lines has passed to TfL ownership (p8).rnTube Lines had previously told bidders that replacement of LU's Piccadilly fleet had been deferred for eight years. However, TfL has now suggested that the end of the PPP could see the project brought forward again. But as RBI went to press, neither manufacturer was confident of an early decision.
