East Coast waits on IEP decision

As the notional operator of the first trains to be delivered under DfT's Intercity Express Programme, government-owned operator East Coast has been involved in the value-for-money review which is due to report this week (p1).rnEast Coast Chairman Elaine Holt told the Newcastle Journal on May 17: 'the key message is this is a growing railway and if you look to the future there will be many more people travelling with us. So we need to make sure we have the capacity and seats available. We are running some trains which are fairly old. We need to have a fleet able to cope with growth'.
