After several financial restructurings to reduce the burden of debt inherited from construction of the Channel Tunnel and subsequent losses in the early years of operations, Groupe Eurotunnel's debt stood at €3-6bn on June 30 2011. On October 3 Groupe Eurotunnel announced that it had used €99m of cash to buy back a por- tion of the variable interest bonds issued by Channel Link Enterprises Finance, the securitisation structure used for its debt.
