On March 29 DfT announced the prequalified bidders for the Essex Thameside, Thameslink and Great Western franchises. The shortlist for the Intercity West Coast franchise had already been published. Including 1CWC, nine organisations will be submitting a total of 17 individual bids. With a typical bid costing around £5m to prepare, approaching £90m will be spent over the next 12 months.
