Hatfield & Stainforth repairs completed

Closed to traffic since February 12, the four tracks between Don-caster and Goole through Hat-field & Stainforth station were reopened on schedule by Network Rail at 05.00 on July 8 (RB1440 p2). This followed several months of work to remove some 1 million m~3 of material and repair the railway following the collapse of a spoil heap at Hatfield Main Colliery. 'The reopening of this line is a real cause for celebration', said NR Route Managing Director, London North Eastern, Phil Verster.
