Strong performance in Scotland

Commenting on ORR's report on Network Rail performance in 2012-13 on June 7,Scottish Transport Minister Keith Brown said he was 'encouraged to see this strong operational performance within Scotland,which is in stark contrast to some of the figures for elsewhere in the UK'.He believed ScotRail had benefited from its alliance with NR as well as 'significant infrastructure improvements like the on-time completion of the Paisley Canal electrification.This has enabled the industry to work much closer together and help raise per- formance,improve efficiency and deliver greater value for money'.The fact that performance levels had improved had 'helped support further investment in new projects,including advance works for Stirling-Alloa/Dunblane electrification and the accelerated delivery of the Whif-flet route electrification project',said Brown (RB1439 p2).
