Announcing preliminary results for the year to March 31 2013 on May 20, FirstGroup plc reported that its UK Rail division 'continues to benefit from strong demand', although like-for-like passenger revenue growth was slightly down at 7.4% from 8.4% the year before. Revenue at UK Rail in 2012-13 was £2 795.1m, up from £2 506.1m 'due to higher passen-ger receipts as well as higher sub-sidy receipts at First ScotRail'. The latter were mainly due to 'Network Rail changes which meant that both subsidy receipts and operat-ing costs were £128m higher than in the preceding year'.
