What is claimed will be the only UK rail operating company dedicated to meeting the requirements of traction and rolling stock engineering companies plans to be operational from March 1 2015. The Rail Operations Group has applied recently to ORR for an operating licence and safety certificate. ROG intends to specialise in train movements associated with rolling stock delivery, testing and mileage accumulation, maintenance, modification and refurbishment programmes. Other potential activities include infrastTucture-train interface testing, modification programmes such as ETCS fitment and empty stock movements. A range of supporting management services will also be offered, including shadow operations, commissioning of new rolling stock, operations management support and driver supply and training.
