No trains for Northern electric services

Northern Rail is no nearer to securing electric rolling stock to operate between Liverpool and Manchester from December, with DfT suggesting that it currently has no budgetary approval for any additional expenditure by the TOC. Of the six Class 319/3 EMUs which had been identified for possible early transfer to Northern in time for training drivers and depot staff, current operator FCC is now understood to be retaining three to provide maintenance cover.
