Chiltern to lease Class 170s

Chiltern Railways announced on February 27 that it is to lease nine two-car Class 170/3 DMUs from Porterbrook Leasing (p2). Due to enter service in summer 2015, the 18 cars will be mainly deployed on services from Oxford to London Marylebone. The DMUs are to be refurbished to provide passengers with amenities including tables, power points and free wi-fi. According to Chiltern, these improvements will ensure 'a productive commuting experience' similar to that currently enjoyed by its longer-distance commuters and business travellers.
