May Gurney boosts Kier

Announcing interim results for the six months to December 31 2013 on February 27, Kier Group plc reported revenue of £742m at its Construction division, up 18% from £627m the year before. Operating profit was up 28% at £17·3m from £13·5m. 'The UK infrastructure business goes from strength to strength', said Kier, with £20m of projects in the rail sector generated for Construction through the acquisition of May Gurney, completed on July 8 2013 (RBl442 p5). Kier also reported that the Crossrail project (p3) 'progresses well'.
