Electrification and plant works on the Kent, Sussex and Wessex routes in CP5 are to be undertaken through a series of framework contracts recently awarded by Network Rail. Divided into five lots (right), the contracts have a total final value of £365m according to an OJEU notice published by NR. McNicholas says that its high-voltage feeder framework covers the refurbishment or replacement of cable routes between substations, including the replacement of oil-filled cables with new 33 kV cabling. It also covers the installation of optic fibre cabling.
