Northern Electrics to Wigan and Victoria

The first electric passenger service between Liverpool Lime Street and Wigan North Western ran on April 25 when No 319 363 operated the Northern Rail 06.00 departure from Liverpool. It then worked the return service at 07.03, before taking over a diagram between Liverpool and Manchester Airport. On April 26 Nos 319 364 and 319 367 worked the first electric train into Manchester Victoria to test the recently-energised OHLE. They arrived in Platform 3 at 21.49.
