Balfour Beatty builds Crossrail test facility

Bombardier Transportation has awarded Balfour Beatty a £12.5m contract to build a production, testing and office facility at its Derby plant for the Crossrail EMU fleet being supplied to TfL. Due for completion in 'winter 2016', the new facility will be able to accommodate four 10-car train-sets. Measuring 250 m by 40 m, the building will have four roads, each with OHLE and inspection pits along their full length. Office accommodation will be provided in a two-storey annex.
