North Kuwait is an active asset with an ambitious plan to build up the production delivery to the tune of 1 million BOPD as an essential ingredient of the company’s 2030 Strategy. A challenging momentum in this regard was provided during 2010–11 by commissioning of two new Gathering Centers; setting up of 6 infield satellite manifolds, laying of 70 km of flow lines; installation of a century of new ESPs, replacements of more than 75 of existing wells with ESPs, more than 125 rigless jobs for activation/ stimulation of wells and the drilling of more than 100 new wells (including a number of horizontal wells). The whole gamut of activities was constantly monitored by a Production Assurance Steering committee which met on weekly basis for effective mobilization of necessary resources such as drilling/workover rigs, ESP equipment & budgets. Synchronization of all activities was the key to the success for the delivery of incremental 100 MBOPD build up within the first 275 days. In the process of production build-up efforts, lessons learnt for further production optimization for multiple set of wells & reservoirs to mega facilities, through the flow line network have been targeted with short term & futuristic actions. The experiences gained during these historic achievements have vitalized the asset to fully geared-up for the 1 million BOPD strategic goal. The processes created in this context reflected the effective planning/implementation to bring the oil from the pores of the reservoir to the pipeline. The proposed paper is a classic example of production management to gain 100 mbopd (as average for the year) within a very tiny time window which is a unique example of professional excellence as an integrated team.
