Revenue down at Balfour Beatty

Reported within the Construction Services division, underlying revenue at the UK Construction business of Balfour Beatty plc was £2 024m in the year to December 31 2015, according to full-year results announced on March 15. This was down 14% from £2 350m the year before, 'predominantly due to a decline in the Regional construction business', said Balfour Beatty. This decline was also attributed to 'lower levels of order intake in 2014', as well as 'improved bidding disciplines' which had resulted in 'lower levels of contracts in previous problem areas'. As UK Construction focused on improving the quality of new orders, the order book declined by 17% to £1·9bn from £2·3bn in 2014.
