Following the opening of a new facility at its base within the Quinton Rail Technology Centre, Vivarail is now offering the first two production Class 230 DFMUs with delivery in Quarter 1 of 2018. Vivarail says it has been able to bring forward deliveries of the DEMUs, converted from ex-London Underground D78 stock, because of increased production capacity. Key to the advanced schedule is a separate 'strip-out' building with pitted tracks. Here the vehicles are washed, stripped to a clean bare shell and then painted ready for rewiring, installation of the underfloor traction equipment and a new interior.
