A blueprint for greater transparency and efficiency in the buying and selling of homes has been released this week by the E-Homebuying Forum, a new collective of organisations involved in the housing market.The forum, whose members include HBOS and market information group Hometrack, advocates a shift towards online transactions and said the key to greater efficiency lies in a greater commitment to technology.The proposals for more transparency include:1. provision of'up front' search information2. mandatory provision of transaction information3. simultaneous electronic funds transfer across a chain.To improve efficiency, the forum is calling for an electronic information exchange between the Land Registry and lenders and wider use of automated valuation models.
