Announced on January 24, the results of the autumn 2016 National Rail Passenger Survey were 'disappointing' across the country, according to Passenger Focus Chief Executive Anthony Smith. Significant declines in overall satisfaction were noted by Passenger Focus at ScotRail, as well as at GTR's Great Northern and Southern service groups (Table 1). 'Scottish passengers and those travelling in peak hours in London and the southeast are bearing the brant of poor performance', said Smith. With the timetable 'a work of fiction' in some parts of the southeast, 'Southern, Thameslink, Gatwick Express and Network Rail must continue to collaborate to produce a more robust timetable', he added.
