Determination of Occupational Effective Dose in Angiocardiography in Jordan

In this article we investigate the radiation exposure and the radiation protection procedures applied to workers at a facility in Jordan that specializes in cardiology and rou- tinely applies fluoroscopy and angio- cardiography of contrast. A method for calculating the effective dose is presented for three dose regions: an over-apron collar skin dose, an over-apron whole body dose and an under-apron waist dose, taking into account the weighting factors of the thyroid and the extremities. This proposed method is also based on some conservative assumptions.
