Hi Alasdair, I have designed a Corben Super Ace, which has a low wing loading, about 1/2" dihedral under each wing, CG at 25%. The wing section is Clark Y with the bottom at 0 degrees so the chordline is about 3 degrees positive. Two degrees down-thrust on the engine. Span is about 50", power is a 30 FS. Control throws are: ailerons 1/2", rudder 3/4", elevators 3/4" (all each way), and there are no warps or control gaps. In flight the elevators are not at all sensitive even at those large throws. The Corben flies perfectly well using coordinated ailerons and rudder, just a touch of rudder and normal aileron and it turns like any other model. Now the puzzle. The ailerons on their own are quite ineffective. Apply aileron alone and nothing happens, occasionally one gets a slight aileron reversal, but the rudder is quite sensitive. Turn the model by using aileron and a touch of rudder for a coordinated turn and it turns quite nicely. With so little dihedral this does not seem correct.
