Or if you prefer, "Ou sont les neiges d'antan?" in the original form (which you knew anyway, didn't you?) A few months back, I had some correspondence from Mr. T. Blackledge of Burnley, Lanes, arising out of our earlier references to the 'Das Ghosten Flugboot' flying boat of the early 70's. Mr. Blackledge had a Flugboot himself and he's been mounting a search for surviving photos of it but in the meantime, he sent some great pics of models from his fleet, which seems to mostly date from the 1980s and include what must surely be some favourites of readers of this column. We'll show you these in a later issue, as they include one or two designs less often seen these days. What I would like to run this time though is a shot that conjured up memories of the kind of flying sessions that I enjoyed long ago. It's decades since I last flew in snow.
