Dear Alasdair, Returning to the model aircraft fold after 40 years, retirement now sees me scratch-building my first 'serious' model after first tackling a couple of reasonably straightforward kits. I need some help, however, and as I'm a subscriber to RCMW you're obviously the man to ask. The model is a 72" DH Beaver from a Traplet plan, which I just couldn't resist: The Beaver is my all-time favourite aircraft.rnMy problem is this: The aerofoil section shown on the plan is under-cambered (see sections scanned and accurately re-drawn) (Figure 1). The wing is fully sheeted and of parallel chord. Mainly for ease of building, I am considering changing this to a flat-bottomed section, simply by continuing the bottom surface straight across the lowest points, as shown, yet I am concerned as to the effect that this will have on flying.
