We are grateful to L Giosan to his comment and the further clarification it brings. The two ~(14)C dates discussed by L. Giosan are, as indicated in our publication, from Giosan et al. (2006) and provided in additional material, Table 1, available on the GSA website. We should have noted this on Fig. 9, and we apologize for the omission. Our analysis of the data was based on information contained within the paper and complementary material. Raw ~(14)C data were recalibrated using Calib 4.1, and the sampling site positioned according to the geographical coordinates contained in supplementary Table 1 using ArcGis. Errors or mispositioning are not ours: in particular, the location of OS-48001 conforms to data provided by Giosan et al. (2006).
