Breedon cleared for Hope acquisition

As this issue of QM was closing for press, the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) announced clearance for Breedon's £336 million acquisition of Hope Construction Materials. Since April, the CMA had been considering in detail a remedy proposed by Breedon to resolve competition concerns arising from the proposed acquisition, instead of referring the case for an in-depth merger investigation.
