Statistics: an important mathematical tool or a political instrument

Last month, elections were held for the national Dutch parliament. Elections are not uncommon in the Netherlands, but this year, from a scientific perspective, something interesting happened. Similar to that in the USA, debates are organized between the main candidates. These debates are being analyzed by many specialists. The data obtained from a wide set of qualitative and quantitative parameters (number of interventions, time to react, facial expression, etc.) are put into models, and verdicts are given who was the actual winner and who was the actual loser of the debate.
