This paper is related to a measuring campaign of pollutant concentrations, using several optoelectronic instruments. Due to their random character, pollutant concentrations signals can be analysed using statistical processing methods. In this frame, statistical tools like correlation coefficient, covariance and correlation functions play a central role. Possible interpretations and facilities offered by several statistical concepts are discussed. Computer experiments with real pollutant concentration signals lead to some practical recommendations concerning the acquisition parameters for future measuring campaigns.
