Holmen's paper segment continued to recover in first quarter of 2016 despite blaze at Hallsta mill

Holmen group posted sales of SEK3.8bn, operating profit of SEK348m, and net profit of SEK222m in the first quarter of 2016. The Consumer board segment (formerly: Igge-sund Paperboard) succeeded in raising its operating profit to SEK236m whilst the sales volume remained constant and sales revenue decreased. Costs of SEK60m were incurred by one-month downtime at the Workington mill in the UK. These costs were offset by a one-off payment of SEK60m from a settlement agreement concerning water costs.
