Turkey considering stricter rules for RCP imports, although import duties are off the table for now

Turkey currently consumes approximately 4 million tpy of recovered paper, but collects only roughly 3 million tpy within its own borders. Even so, the country is apparently considering imposing stricter rules for recovered paper imports. Ercan Yurekli, vice-president of Tudam, the Turkish National Association of Recyclers, told EUWID that a meeting is set to take place in November at which the Ministry of Environment, waste management companies, recyclers and recovered paper importers would discuss measures being considered by the government.
