Lately, there have been some major incidents with dispatchers not obtaining complete and proper caller location information. Two I can think of involved duplicate street numbers on streets with the same 'name. One call involved a mother who stated she was on State "Avenue," which is in one city, but she was actually on State "Street" in a different city. Another incident was dispatched as "West" Main Street but the call was on "East" Main, and three people died. Everyone involved in the calls was suspended or took flack from the public. What can we do to make sure tilings like this don't happen? It doesn't seem fair to suspend or criticize a dispatcher for just doing their job.
