Serving on APCO International's Call Center Standards Committee and Occupational Analysis Subcommittee has given me the opportunity to meet many amazing and talented public safety communications professionals. People who are truly passionate about the profession, their staff and the centers they helped build and manage. Equally, all are keenly aware of and take pride in the services they provide for their stakeholders. In my conversations with these professionals, I've learned they have common challenges and face similar hardships due to the economic climate. A common issue raised by most is that risk and exposure are more prevalent in the comm center today than ever before.
