MetroCor™ Fiber

MetroCor fiber is optimized for dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) and operation in the telecommunications window operating at 1550 nm using directly modulated (DM-DFB) lasers. For those scenarios where systems will be initially deployed at 1310 nm using directly modulated lasers, and where a defined migration path to 1550 nm exists, MetroCor fiber demonstrates adequate, and in some instances improved performance. We will demonstrate that at 1310 nm, both MetroCor fiber and standard single mode fibers are attenuation limited at distances of about 60 km.
