This article will be published in three parts. Part one will cover what metadata is, why it is useful and how it is added to photographs. Part two will cover in some detail how to edit metadata in Photoshop~® Elements, Photoshop~® Bridge and Lightroom~® and part three will cover how to use metadata in Photoshop~® Elements, Photoshop~® Bridge and Lightroom~®.rnStrictly speaking metadata or meta data (sometimes metainformation) is "data about other data," of any sort in any media. An item of metadata may describe an individual datum, or content item, or a collection of data including multiple content items and hierarchical levels. For example, librarians use metadata to classify and catalog books in a library instead of using index cards, as in the old days.
