摘要

The chief executive of housebuilder Berkeley Group has criticised the government and Bank of England for being "too cautious" in their efforts to boost the housing sector. Speaking to Property Week after announcing its full-year results, Rob Perrins said the government should be taking steps to increase the "feelgood factor" by cutting stamp duty, while the Bank of England should be doing more to encourage mortgage lenders to relax their loan-to-value criteria. Perrins, who has previously criticised the government's Help to Buy scheme, said: "The government could really help in increasing the feelgood factor. "For us, it is reducing stamp duty, For the rest of the sector, it's extending Help to Buy at the levels it is at currently; and the third is the Bank of England relaxing mortgage availability rules.
