Hotels market hots up after two major deals in two days

The hotel market has been quiet of late. So it was a surprise when two major deals completed at the end of September: Aprirose's purchase of the QHotels business from Bain Capital Credit and Canyon Partners for £525m and Henderson Park's deal to buy the Metropole hotels in London and Birmingham from Tonstate Group for £500m, There have been few £100m-plus deals in the sector since a raft of high-profile portfolio transactions went through in 2015. But experts say hotels have been performing consistently well in spite of - and in some cases because of - Brexit; that there has been a consistent flow of smaller transactions; and that there is plenty of money targeting the sector. So were these two large deals happening within a day of each other a coincidence or a sign of things to come?
