Proposals for the long-awaited redevelopment of Smithfield Market in London were unveiled today. Henderson Global Investors bought the historic site out of receivership in 2010 and will submit a planning application for retail, public space and offices, including the famous general and fish markets, later this year. Designed by John McAslan & Partners, the scheme will have restaurant and retail at ground-floor level and low-rise offices above.
