Petrol station operator Euro Garages is on the acquisitions trail to secure new filling sites in the UK, on the back of a successful half-year trading update that was announced at the end of last month.The company, which is one of the top five largestindependent companies in its sector, said it was in advanced talks to buy a further six sites in the north-west and the Midlands - its heartland regions -over the coming weeks as part of a 'continuing programme of selective acquisitions'.Last month it revealed that total fuel and retail sales in the six months to 31 January had climbed to ￡125.4m, compared with ￡107.8m for the same period last year -an increase of 16.3%.Among its most recent acquisitions are a 1 acresite in Hertfordshire, which last month received planning permission to be developed into a 24-hour petrol station.
