Functional monitoring of gas re-circulation (feedback) systems at petrol stations, involves one measurement point dependent on the through-flow and measurement devices responding to pressure or to the flow. A desired value can be established in relation to the volume in the installed condition, and a switchable alarm function is provided depending on the established desired value, which is set within the framework of a diagnosis of a volume flow, by means of complementary measurement devices.
