The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has ruled out banning open-ended funds from holding illiquid assets or preventing retail investors acquiring assets in such funds following the mass redemptions and fund suspensions in the aftermath of the EU referendum. In a 48-page discussion paper on potential reforms published this week, the regulator warned that such fundamental change could trigger "fund redemptions, portfolio restructuring and even fund closures".
