The Association of Women in Property's (WiP) annual National Student Awards have taught us many things, with all involved continuing to be delighted and impressed with the calibre of students coming through the system. However, we are singularly unimpressed with the failure in some areas of education - from sixth form upwards - to prepare our future workforce for the world of employment. It has been through our own rigorous awards process that we have, all too regularly, come across brilliant students who wouldn't have made the first cut if it was down to their CVs. And we have met undergraduates who sound terrific on paper, but crumble in an interview, having never gone through such an experience before. Talented, promising young people might be slipping through the net for want of some advice and support.
