Large lots fail to sell as Barnard Marcus result dips year on year

Barnard Marcus raised £21m at its sale this week, a quarter less than at its equivalent auction in November 2017. The London-based auction house failed to sell an unusually large lot guided at more than £14m at its 19 November sale. The lot (pictured), which if sold would have been the second largest to sell at auction this year and one of the largest ever, is a medical centre in Droitwich, Worcestershire. It was guided at £14.5m but only achieved bids up to £14m and did not sell. The centre, which is still available with the auctioneer, spans around 45,000 sq ft and provides consulting rooms, treatment rooms, a theatre, administration space and ancillary accommodation. Its overall 1.24-acre site also features 78 parking spaces.
