Our grandchildren will ask us one day: "What were you doing at the time of the Big Crash?" It will be taught about in schools and universities and we will be able to say we were part of it. We experienced the build-up when anyone with a semblance of a banking relationship, armed with unimaginable lines of credit, drove the market to unsustainable levels, many confusing themselves en route into believing they were geniuses. We watched as the spoils were spent on extravagances we can only wonder at today.
