Investment in UK commercial property has reached a new record of £19.1bn for the first quarter, driven by a surge in hotel and student accommodation deals. The volume of deals in the first three months of the year increased by 59% compared with the same period last year, according to Lambert Smith Hampton's latest UK Investment Transactions report. All the main asset classes - industrial, offices and retail - saw double-digit increases in investment, but the alternative sector took off the most.
