US electricals retailer Best Buy has abandoned its UK rollout and will close all its stores by the end of 2011. Best Buy propelled itself into the UK market in 2008, when it signed a joint venture with Carphone Warehouse and announced it would open 200 stores by 2013. But the impact of online retailing and the strength of established competitors such as Dixons means the brand has opened just 11 stores so far.
